Budget Discussion 2081/82

The ECOFIN club of CBM organized budget 81/82 disscussion program in collaboration with Co-think forum.
The program was held during the friday extra activity day as the book free friday of CBM’s 5+1 study model. The students of grade XII participated in the program and learned about the budget of Nepal, how is it formed?, and what exactly it is?
Mr. Gaurav Sapkota, the XII pass out student from CBM college is the moderator of the progarm. He guided his juniors and made the program run smoothly.

The students learned about the creation and execution plan of the Nepal government. They themselves researched about the budget 2081/82 and discussed about it. The students raised very insightful queries that are questionable to the Nepal goverment.
Mr. Sapkota started the disscussion of budget 81/82. He said what exactly budget is?, how is it formed? and what is Nepal’s budget for the year 2081/82.

The students discussed the budget source and also analyzed the past budget that is not received as targeted.
Students priortized the sector wise disscussion of budget. They spoke about the sector allocation of budget (i.e, Agriculture, Health, Education, Tourism, IT, Transportation, Energy, etc).
One of the participant mentioned that currently only 19% of the budget is allocated to capital expenditure while it should be prioritized for Nepal’s smooth economic boost.
Students discussed about the new plan of building wedding hub in Janakpur and birthing hub in Lumbini. They questioned about the concept of birthing hub as it is not clearly disclosed and creates improper sense.
Participants also questioned about the transportation and road construction activities. Students analyzed the roads currently under construction (i.e, Prithivi highway, BP highway, the raod from Dhulikhel to Kathmandu, etc) and questioned what road to use if every road is under construction at the same time.
Participants openly expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the lack of prioritization, budget, vision and implementation on sectors such as youths and sports.
On the other hand, students praised the plan of developing IT sector and focusing on the province wise development.
Students were really impressed by the new 900MW electricity generation plan. They also praised the government for focusing on women and women empowerment.
The students critically analyzed budget and both praised and criticized the new budget 2081/82.
The overall program was a great success under the mentorship of Mr. Sanjay Mehta and CA Ranjit Hamal. The Moderator Mr. Gaurav Sapkota and The Vice- president of ECOFIN club of CBM Mr. Kushal Dulal greatly supported the program. The ECOFIN club worked really hard and brought the success to the program.
